We are an established representative office in Shanghai and are a division of an American Fortune 500 company. The company is a global leader in Store Fixture Equipment and Point Of Sales Display Equipment and has more than 300 facilities in over 30 countries. The company has sales of $5.4 billion in 2006. An opportunity is now available in the Shanghai Office for a bilingual Operation Manager.
Key Functions:
§ Plan, develop and implement strategy for the management and development of China operations so as to meet agreed organisational performance targets within agreed budgets and time scales.
§ Take full accountability for managing and developing China Office aiming to achieve maximum efficiency of operations.
§ Work with approved suppliers to improve their understanding of company's requirements for cost, quality, service, human rights, health & safety and environmental issues.
§ Work with branch offices to help improve their understanding of the Chinese manufacturing facilities so that they in turn get the best results on their projects
§ Partner with other “champions” to act as one team in resolving issues and more importantly through case studies, suggesting ways of cost saving for branch buyers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
§ Provide primary point of contact to offer advice and guidance in order for the branch to plan and implement complex projects and issues.
§ Supplier liaison – Support the Sourcing Manager to identify, develop and manage new and existing suppliers and processes.
§ Supplier control – Support China Project Managers to plan, control and supervise projects.
§ Office budgets and financial control – work within the budget, and if required making strong commercial cases where necessary for additional spend
§ Provide internal and on-site training to China Project managers to enable them to carry out prototype and first article inspection.
§ Responsible for staff recruitment, appraisals and training, paying close attention to staff moral and team building.
§ Scheduling and delegation of work and workload planning to ensure full project coverage and maximum efficiency in achieving China’s objectives.
§ Investigate and implement new systems and improvements to existing systems for better efficiency, trace-ability and measurability.
§ Keep up to date on information concerning health and safety in the workplace, including environmental issues.
§ IT and communications – Keep up to date with IT issues to improve the business operation, working alongside the designated China IT representative.
§ Carry out regular meetings with the QA Manager and Project Managers to ensure all targets are on track
§ Technical support – Serve as the on-location technical partner to prepare projects to best suite Chinese manufacture.
